Florida Museum of Natural History
View more than 100 quilts that illustrate Florida's wildlife and natural landscapes in " Quilting Natural Florida II" produced in conjunction withthe Quilters of Alachua County Day Guild. Jurors from the FLorida Museum and Quilters Guild selected more that 100 quilts to be displayed. This family friendly exhibit features designs created by some of the best quilters in California, Florida, North Carolina, Texas and as far off as Sweden.

DUDLEY FARM PLOW DAYS

Dudley Farms
Just like in olden times when sugar cane was arhvested, it was a big event. Mule teams and draft horses demonstrate old-time farming before the days of tractors as they prepare the fields for spring planting.
School groups will be given guided tours on Friday, February 5th. Reservations are required two months in advance. Please call 352-472-1142.

Thomas Center 100th Anniversary Celebration Weekend

Visitors to the centennial rededication event on Friday evening can learn about the building’s history by touring the facility with a costumed guide, watching 1920s‘ era dancers perform and attending a gallery reception for “HAIRPOLITIC: Pomade in America,” an exhibition by artist Kenya (Robinson). Friday evening’s festivities will run from 5 – 8 p.m. are free and open to the public.
The community is then encouraged to continue the revelry by attending the Beaux-Arts Ball the next evening at 8 p.m. The Beaux-Arts Ball is a 1920s-themed costume ball that not only honors the Thomas Center’s elegant beginnings but will serve as a fundraiser for the Theatre for Young Audiences, which the City of Gainesville will launch in spring 2010.
