
The Northeast Historic District, dating back to the 1870's, was developed in stages and is one of the best preserved residential areas. In 1980, the district was recognized by the US Department of the Interior as making an important contribution to American Cultural Heritage. The first historic district in North Central Florida, it includes 290 historic buildings within a 63 block area which reflect architectural styles typical in Florida from the 1880s to the late 1930s.
